The Somers Public Library Guinea Pigs
Sad news. Oreo has gone over the Rainbow Bridge and is no longer with us. S'mores is doing well and would like a new friend. We are looking for one now.
Have you met our library mascots? They are both adorable, female guinea pigs. The black and white one is Oreo and the brown and white one is S'mores. They were named by popular vote from the children visiting the library. We adopted them in April of 2024 from Dakin Humane Society in Springfield, MA. Everyday they get a nice salad for breakfast, crunchy pellets for lunch, and hay to chow on all day. They love getting special treats like blueberries and other fruits. They get lots of exercise in their playpen and on weekends, Cheyenne, their fabulous caregiver, takes them home to play with her pet rabbits and kitties! Did you know that you can now take Oreo and S'mores home with you? Okay, not the real Oreo and S'mores, but very cute stuffed versions with their very own carrying case and blanket.
