Sponsored by the Friends of the Somers Library, the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a fun, exciting, and free way to start your
child on the path to success! Any child ages birth to five years can participate in this ongoing program.
Register HERE or at the library then stop in the children's room to pick up your 1000 books reading packet or print out a reading log or use the free App found at 1000 Books Before Kindergarten website.
• Track your books on the reading log provided. You can log any book read to your child - that includes books read in storytime, in daycare or preschool, or with a family member. Even if your child wants to hear the same book again and again, you can count it each time
• 100 Book Milestones: each time you read 100 books, bring your reading log to the library to receive a sticker and another reading log.
• 500 Books: When you read 500 books you will receive a book bag and your name on our wall of fame.
• 1000 Books: You did it! Come celebrate at the library, put your name on our wall of fame and receive a certificate and a free book (up to a $20 value).
• Keep Reading: Don't stop at 1000! Continue to build literacy skills by singing songs, saying rhymes, telling stories, and playing with your child. Visit the Somers Public Library often for free programs that are not only fun but educational and while you're there, pick our some great books to share with your child!
